#1: Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party
This special event at the Magic Kingdom is only held in the months of November and December. Special event admission is required in order to attend, but we think it’s totally worth it to watch Queen Elsa & Princess Anna light up the Castle Dream Lights, enjoy Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade, the Christmas fireworks show, snowfall on Main Street, U.S.A… it is a practically indescribable experience that you just have to see for yourself.
#2: Holiday Décor at Walt Disney World’s Resort Hotels
Each of WDW’s on-site resorts gets a little spruced up (pun intended – ha!) for the holiday season. Take a drive through the Campsites at Fort Wilderness to see the campers’ holiday cheer on display. Visit Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa to see a REAL 1,000-square-foot gingerbread house. Sit by the fire and enjoy the cozy rustic charm of the tree and greenery at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. Train lovers should visit the Yacht Club’s Christmas village with working train. Every resort has a holiday tradition all its own.
#3: Epcot’s International Festival of the Holidays
Visiting the 11 countries of the World Showcase, guests will experience the sights, sounds, and flavors of the season as it’s celebrated around the world! Special food kiosks – whose popularity have skyrocketed thanks to the International Festival of the Arts, Flower and Garden Festival, and the International Food & Wine Festival – are a wonderful way to taste your way through seasonal recipes from around the globe.
#4: The Christmas Tree Trail at Disney Springs
Exploring this showcase of themed holiday trees is a fun (and FREE) way to get in the holiday spirit! For the 2018-2019 holiday season, there were 27 different trees on the Christmas Tree Trail. The attention to detail on these trees is phenomenal! Each tree will also have a lantern showcasing an ornament available for purchase at Disney Springs, in case you’d like to take a little bit of the magic home with you. We’re only sharing a handful with you, because you really should see the trees for yourself!
#5: Candlelight Processional
From Thanksgiving Day until December 30, 2019, the Candlelight Processional will be held in Epcot’s America Gardens Theatre at 5:00pm, 6:45pm, and 8:15pm nightly. The show is a moving telling of the Biblical story of Christmas, featuring a celebrity narrator (this year’s schedule can be found here), accompanied by a 50-piece orchestra and massed choir. This is one of the MOST popular events of the holiday season at Walt Disney World. Guests either need to arrive early to claim seats, or reserve a Candlelight Processional Dining Package to guarantee seats.
We think even Ebeneezer Scrooge’s heart could be warmed by the extra special touches of holiday cheer that can be found all over the Walt Disney World Resort during the winter months.
