It’s no secret that it’s HOT in Orlando in the summer. Travel in August and you may find average temperatures to be around 92°F. Having visited during the summer season, I have found ways to beat the heat! Check my list of cool tips.
7 Ways to Beat the Heat at Universal Orlando
Get up and go early!
Early Park Admission allows guests staying at a Universal resort to enter the Wizarding World of Harry Potter sections of Islands of Adventure or Universal Studios an hour earlier than the general public. If you have a Park-to-Park ticket you can ride the Hogwarts’ Express to the other section at regular park opening time. It’s an excellent experience and different each way!
Enjoy indoor air-conditioned rides and attractions.
Some favorite rides like Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem; Return of the Mummy: The Ride; and Transformers–The Ride 3-D are air-conditioned. Even the waiting areas are air-conditioned with fans blowing. Some even have water misting areas.
Take a mid-day break.
Go back to your resort to swim or relax in your air-conditioned room. Plan a dining experience. Dine with characters or not – the choice is yours, and there are many choices!
HYDRATE!
Drink water, drink water, drink water! You can take water bottles with you into the parks.
Enjoy the water features at the parks.
Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure both have either splash pads or water rides. Check out the Jurassic Park ride, Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls, or Curious George Goes to Town. These are just a few of the fun attractions that invite guests to get wet.
Explore Volcano Bay!
Want more water rides? Head on over to the brand new Volcano Bay water park! Enjoy cutting-edge technology that allows you to play while your place is held in line for you.
Avoid sunny waits with the Universal Express Pass.
When you purchase an Express Pass with your theme park tickets, you can avoid the long lines in the sun. Even better, stay in an onsite Universal resort hotel that includes Express Pass as one of its perks! Not all of the resorts offer this, so be sure to check with your travel agent when you book.
