Walt Disney World Company employees aren’t technically employees – They are called “Cast Members”. Every employee in the park — whether they operate rides, serve food, or actually put on a show — is a “Cast Member”. This idea comes directly from Walt and his desire that the entire Disney park itself is a “stage.”
The guest experience is typically amazing across all of the Walt Disney World properties and parks. These cast members work very hard on making sure that they meet or exceed guests expectations.
When you have an exceptional experience with a cast member, be sure to do 2 things:
- Tell the cast member how much you appreciate them. Who does not love to hear a compliment?
- Head over to Twitter. Tweet out to @WDWToday (the official Walt Disney World Twitter account), include the cast members name, the location where you met them, and what made them so special. Be sure to include the hashtag #CastCompliment.
The team will find the cast member that you tweeted about and will send you a picture of them holding your compliment! This also goes into the cast members file, which could just help them advance to another position in the company!
If you are not on Twitter, there are other ways to make sure those amazing cast members are shown some love:
- Stop by guest relations at the parks or the resorts and write down your compliment.
After you get back home, you can still show your appreciation. Write, email, or call Disney Guest Communications and be personal and authentic. Tell them about your experience and hand written notes are always appreciated!
