10 Reasons to Visit Disneyland
by Audra Owens
The Disneyland Resort in California is a wonderful destination for your next family vacation. Let’s take a photographic tour of my favorite things.
Reason #1: History
Walt Disney saw the building of this park to completion. He walked in this park, brought his children here. At Disneyland, he fulfilled his dream of creating a place where families can spend time together and have fun.
“To all who come to this happy place: Welcome. Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past, and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams, and the hard facts that have created America, with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world.”
–Walt Disney, July 15, 1955
Reason #2: Churros!
One of the best things about a visit to Disneyland is enjoying all the yummy snacks. You may even get to see more of them in the countdown.
Reason #3: Riding in the front of the Disneyland monorail.
When you arrive at the monorail station, ask a Cast Member if you can ride up front with the driver. The nose cone of the monorail can accommodate up to four guests. Once, you could request to do the same thing at Disney World in Florida, but at the time of posting, this is only available in California.
Reason #4: Cars Land.
Chances are, if there’s a boy under the age of 18 living in your house, you probably already have the streets of Radiator Springs committed to memory. At Disney’s California Adventure Park, you can practically step inside the movie. Race through Ornament Valley on the Radiator Springs Racers, grab a bite to eat at Flo’s Cafe, or stop by the Cozy Cone Motel for a snack and rest break.
Reason #5: Roaming characters.
You never know who may pop up around the next corner. I love that there’s still an element of surprise to meeting characters at Disneyland.
Reason #6: Three wonderful on-site hotels.
All three Disneyland resorts – Disney’s Grand Californian Resort & Spa, the Disneyland Hotel, and Paradise Pier – are conveniently located within walking distance of the entrances of Disneyland Park and Disney’s California Adventure. As an added bonus, when you’re an on-site guest, you get to take advantage of each morning’s Extra Magic Hour! (A deluxe view room at the Disneyland Hotel is featured in the photos below.)
Reason #7: Sleeping Beauty Castle.
Isn’t she lovely? She may not be as tall as that east coast castle, but I love her all the same. Be sure to take a look at the castle from the back side. The story goes that what we see as the front was originally supposed to be the back, and the original front faces inside Fantasyland.
Reason #8: All the wonderful, family-friendly attractions!
There are many that you won’t find at Walt Disney World in Florida, like almost everything at Disney’s California Adventure Park, as well as many beloved favorites in Disneyland Park, like Alice in Wonderland, Casey Junior Circus Train, Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, Autopia, and the Storybook Land Canal Boats.
Reason #9: Dole Whip.
I told you there would be more snacks. 😁
Reason #10: Memories.
You will keep the memories you make with your family forever. This is a huge part of why we do what we do here at A Time to Treasure Travel. Our agents love playing a small role in helping your family plan a vacation where precious memories are made.
