The Tree of Life in Disney’s Animal Kingdom creates an iconic centerpiece for the park.

Disney’s Tree of Life is completely man-made, designed and built over 18 months with the strength to withstand hurricane-force winds. You can’t miss it! At 145 feet tall and 50 feet wide at its base, the Tree of Life features more than 300 detailed animal carvings.

You can see some from a distance, of course, but if you walk around either side of the tree, you’ll find Discovery Island Trails. Follow these for a captivating, up-close look. You’ll find serene waterfalls, river paths, and a few animal exhibits, too.

FUN FACT: Disney’s Tree of Life has at least 8000 branches of various size and more than 102,000 leaves. Each leaf is over 1 foot long!

Inside the Tree of Life is the “It’s Tough to Be a Bug!” attraction. This 8-minute presentation features characters from Disney’s “A Bug’s Life” — including Flik and Hopper. Most guests will enjoy this 3-D multimedia experience, but watch out for critters! You may feel some scurrying through and surprising the audience. 🙂

After dark be enchanted by Tree of Life Awakenings. Light and color converge in a breath-taking animated display. Stand at the front of the tree for the best viewing. Shows start every 10 minutes after dark until park close.
